Visual storytelling at it’s finest.

If you are an online retailer, artist or photographer, you most likely already have photos of your work or access to have it photographed.

I can’t recommend it highly enough to have professional quality images. Images with an odd glare or poorly cropped will not do justice to your work. If you have the resources and budget you might want to consider hiring someone to do this for you. If not, there are tons of resources on YouTube that might be helpful.

Also for our retail friends, keep in mind that you will need a mix of editorial, lifestyle as well as product photography. For products be sure to highlight details and various views if applicable.

But what about those of you that don’t have built in art or images, how do you tell your story? Stock images are an obvious option or you might prefer bold typography, graphics or video. Think about how you want to connect and start with a list of priorities for example:

  • diversity

  • inclusive

  • colorful

  • playful

You can also create a “collection” of images you like on sites like Unsplash. And for added BONUS POINTS this would be a great time to start organizing your images in either Dropbox or Google Drive.
